After the vase was
thrown and trimmed, it was coated with a layer of underglaze (the darker
color). Then leaves were placed on top of the underglaze with the
vein side down and pressed firmly into the surface . Once the
leaves were in place, the second, lighter color of underglaze was
sponged on. When the top layer was dry, the leaves were removed.
The vase is now ready to
be bisque fired. |
After it was trimmed, this vase had the leaves applied directly to the
somewhat soft clay surface. The underglaze was painted on over the
leaves and when it was dry, the leaves were removed.
This vase is now ready to be bisque fired. |
